First Draft In Progress
Time and time again, we find ourselves with pen touching paper. An idea for a story captivates our hearts and floods our fingers faster than we can write it down. We power through sentence after sentence, riding this wave of new passion. Then we step away. We find ourselves eager to return but we struggle to find motivation to devote the time. Our mind tells us that no one would ever want to read our stories, that our efforts are a waste of time. Our inner demons hold us back.
We have found ourselves in that situation time and time again. We have stories scratched into notebooks that have never had completion in sight. We know that we aren’t alone. it is because of this that we created First Draft In Progress, a place where writers can put their work in progress out for the world to see. A warm place where writers can be praised for their efforts early in the process.
The objective of First Draft In Progress is to motivate writers to finish what they started. Take the starting that you’ve created and lets put an end to them. All of your stories matter, and someone out there wants to read it.
The Idea
Being an amateur author can be frustrating and intimidating. Sometimes you might read the words that you’ve so carefully crafted for months, or even years, and you criticize yourself. Moreover, be unfairly harsh toward yourself. We created First Draft In Progress in order to help in those moments. FDIP is a place where amateur authors can publish a small portion of their work, maybe a chapter or just a small excerpt, and have readers show support for their work. Hopefully seeing your work, your labor of love, receiving likes from readers around the world will be just the motivation that you need in order to get that next chapter written. If not, then maybe the tokens that readers tip you with are a better motivator.
We want to help motivate amateur authors to keep pushing through, to finish that project that they’ve been working on. No more half-finished novels. No more unwritten stories. Show the world what that first draft looks like and let the world show you how eager they are to see more.
The Benefits
The manuscript that’s been sitting in the folder on your desktop for years, hidden from the world, doesn’t need to be hidden anymore.
Get the praise that you deserve. Enjoy the crowds of readers that will be introduced to your work.
Show publishers that your novel would have interest through analytics. By having excerpts and chapters that are on FDIP, you can see the reaction that your work will get from a public audience.
Everything else is great, but exchanging the tokens that readers have tipped you for a monetary payout is the best.
